PAGE, SOLOMAN CALVIN - In Headright Certificate No. 272 issued to Mr. Page February 18, 1838 for one league and one labor of land by the Board of Land Commissioners for Brazoria County it is certified he came to Texas before May 2, 1835. (File 705, Bexar 1st Class) On page 41 of the army rolls in the General Land Office he is shown as a member of Captain Peyton R. Splane’s Company on April 21, 1836. On December 15, 1838 issued Donation Certificate No. 698 for 640 acres of land for having been detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg April 21, 1836. He did not apply for the bounty land due him.

Before coming to Texas Mr. Page was married to Harriet A. Moore, probably a daughter of Robert D. Moore. At least she was a sister of Robert D. Moore. Mr. Page and Robert D. Moore were in the same company at Harrisburg, April 21, 1836. Mrs. Page, her father, and her two children were at that time regufees on Galveston Island. There Mrs. Page met Robert Potter, Secretary of the Texas Navy and he induced her to desert her husband and live with him. Mr. Page obtained a divorce May 11, 1840 and about ten years left Texas. His headright land was surveyed in Crockett County. His bounty land was surveyed in McLennan County two miles west of Waco by George Green, August 17, 1846.

At his home on Caddo Lake in what is now Marion County Robert Potter was assissinated March 2, 1842. Mrs. Page, but known as Mrs. Potter, was later married to Charles Ames.
