MOORE, LEWIS - Came to Texas in 1834, as is stated in Headright Certificate No. 103 issued to him March 1, 1838 for one-twelfth of a league of land by the Board of Land Commissioners for Milam County.

Mr. Moore was issued Bounty Certificate No. 1906 for 320 acres of land January 17, 1838 for having served in the army from February 29 to May 30, 1836. On September 28, 1841 he received Donation Certificate No. 1167 for 640 acres of land for having been detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836.
On page _____ of the army rolls in the General Land Office Mr. Moore is shown as having enlisted in Captain Thomas H. Barron’s company, October 31, 1836.
Mr. Moore died in 1894 while a member of the Texas Veterans Association and is buried in the Moore Cemetery near Chalk Bluff, McLennan County.
One of the children of Lewis Moore was Sam Houston Moore. Some of the children of Sam Houston Moore are Henry Lewis Roddey, 2118 Columbus Avenue, Waco; Mrs. Nannie R. Burns, ____________; W. R. Moore, 1922 Summer Avenue, Waco; Lewis Moore, Lubbock; Jack Moore, Floydada; Hollis Moore, Sweetwater; Calton Moore; Orvill Moore; and Lemond Moore.
