MARSHALL, SAMUEL B. - Born in Illinois in 1809. His name is shown on page 42 of the army rolls in the General Land as one of the members of Company E, Captain Gibson Kuykendall, who were detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg April 21, 1836. He enlisted August 11, 1836 in Company C, Colonel Robert M. Coleman’s regiemtn of rangers. He was corporal in LieutenantaB. R. Thomas’ ranger company at muster December 31, 1836.

Mr. Marshall was one of the witnesses who met with twenty chiefs of ten tribes of Indians, September 29, 1843 at Bird’s Fort on the Trinity and signed a treaty of peace and friendship.
Mr. Marshall was married in Grimes County to Polly Winfield. He was a member of the Texas Veterans Association and was living in Bell County in 1874.
