MARSHALL, JOHN, JR. - The compiler is responsible for Mr. Marshall’s name being omitted from the bronze plaque in the San Jacinto memorial monument on which are inscribed the names of the Texans who were detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836. It should be added to the list.

Mr. Marshall’s name is shown on page 42 of the army rolls in the General Land Office as one of the members of Company E, Captain Gibson Kuykendall, who were detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836.

Mr. Marshall came to Texas in 1830, as is stated in Headright Certificate No. 41 for one league and one labor of land issued to him in 1838 by the Board of Land Commissioners for Austin County.

I do hereby certify that Joseph Marshall Entered the service of Texas as a Volunteer on the 20th March & has continued in Sd Service untill the present time----Sd Marshall has faithfully done the duties of a soldier. He is therefore discharged. -------
