MARSHALL, HUGH LEWIS - Born July 25, 1813. On page 42 of the army rolls in the General Land Office as one of the men of Company E, Captain Gibson Kuykendall, who were detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836. On page _____ of the rolls he is shown as a member of Captain H. N. Cleaveland’s company of Mill Creek Volunteers at muster July 1, 1836.

Mr. Marshall died March 19, 1891 and is buried in a marked grave in the Griffin Cemetery two miles west of the town of Little River Bell County.

Mrs. Bird Reed Tarrant, 1619 Seevers Avenue, Dallas, is a granddaughter of Hugh L. Marshall.

Came to Texas in 1829, as is stated in Headright Certificate No. 39 for one-third of a league of land issued to him in 1838 by the Board of Land Commissioners for Austin County.
