LLOYD, PETERSON - Came to Texas in October, 1832, as is stated in the headright certificate issued to him February, 19, 1838 by the Board of Land Commissioners for Montgomery County for one-third of a league of land. He was a member of Captain Joseph B. Chance’s company and his name appears on page 42 of the army rolls in the General Land Office as one of the soldiers who were detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg April 21, 1836. His name is not on the San Jacinto rolls printed in 1836 but on November 16, 1838 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 601 for 640 acres of land for having participated in the battle of San Jacinto. Bounty Certificate No. 1997 for 320 acres of land was issued in his name January 27, 1838 for his services in the army. The certificate had been assigned to Charles Curtis and was not in the file in the Land Office.
