HODGE, WILLIAM - Name appears on an army roll at the General Land Office as a member of Captain Peyton R. Splane’s Company among those detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg April 21, 1836. In a Comptroller’s Military Service Record Captain Splane, at Goliad June 5, 1836 certified that Mr. Hodge had served in his company from March 6 to June 5, 1836.

On August 22, 1845 Adjutant General William G. Cooke issued to Mr. Hodge Donation Certificate No. 1207 for 640 acres of land for “having participated in the battle of San Jacinto (detailed as Baggage Guard)”.
The marriage records of Washington County show that Mr. Hodge was married to Miss E. Mitchell, December 19, 1847.
Mr. Hodge was living in Falls County, December 20, 1851 when he sold his donation certificate.

I certify that the name of W. Hodge appears as a private on the Muster on file in this office of a Company Commanded by Capt. R Splane, in the battle of San Jacinto.
Also that the name of said Hodge appears as a private upon the roll of Capt George W. Long from 9th of Septr 1839 to 22nd Novr 1839and also the name of James Hodge for the Same period.

HODGE, WILLIAM – Born in Tennessee in 1819; enlisted in the volunteer auxillary corps at Nacogdoches, January 14, 1836.
HODGE, WILLIAM – Came to Texas in December, 1825. This is stated in Headright Certificate No. 122 for one-third of a league of land issued to him in 1838 by the Board of Land Commissioners for Fort Bend County.
