HARBOUR, JOHN MONROE - Born in Virginia, November 9, 1820 and came to Texas in 1824. In Comptroller’s Military Service Record No. 958, signed by Job. S. Collard, Second Lieutenant of Company D. Second Regiment it is certified that Mr. Harbour was a member of Captain William Ware’s Company and had served in the army from February 29 to May 30, 1836. On December 24, 1852 he was issued Donation Certificate No. 465 for 640 acres of land for having been detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg April 21, 1836.

Mr. Harbour was married in Washington County January 15, 1844 to Martha Willingham. Of this union the following children were born: John J., Francis U. and Mary E. Harbour. Mrs. Harbour was born October 29, 1819 and died in Washington County in 1853. In 1854 Mr. Harbour was married to Mrs. Maryan Elms Yarberry. To them were born Thomas Jefferson, Joseph, David, George Washington, Rosaner, Henry and Samuel Harbour.
Mr. Harbour was a member of the Texas Veterans Association. He died September 20, 1900. Mrs. Harbour was born in Arkansas, July 11, 1826 and died May 1, 1901. Mr. and Mrs. Harbour are buried in marked graves in the cemetery at Kileen, Bell County.
Mr. A. A. Harbour, Lometa, Texas is a descendant of John M. Harbour.
