GORDON, JAMES - Listed on page 41 of the army rolls in the General Land Office as one of the members of Captain Peyton R. Splane’s company who were detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836. Bounty Certificate No. 2584 for 320 acres of land was issued in Mr. Gordon’s name March 8,1838, due him for his services in the army from March 9 to June 7, 1836. The certificate had been assigned to Benjamin F. Smith.

Mr. Gordon was issued Bounty Certificate No. 8078 for 1280 acres of land March 14, 1839 for having served in the army from February 23, 1837 to March 9, 1839. The land was surveyed in the Milam Land District in what is now Bosque County.
Mr. Gordon died in Bosque County in 1858. Word Keller was appointed administrator of his estate February 11, 1859.
