FREED, HENRY - The compiler is responsible for the name H. Trud being placed on the bronze plaque in the San Jacinto memorial monument on which are inscribed the names of the Texans who were detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836. He now (March 28, 1941) is of the opinion that the name should be Henry Freed.

The name Henry Freed appears on page 42 of the army rolls in the General Land Office as one of the men of Captain Gibson Kuykendall’s company who was detailed to guard the baggage at the camp opposite Harrisburg, April 21, 1836. On page 227 of the rolls it is shown as H. Treed, or H. Trud.
