Description
Masonic apron. Cream silk apron with designs made of gold spangles and gold-plated wire. Designs: initials, "M B"; laurel; and Masonic emblem (compass and square). Green laurel (embroidery) below. Canvas back.
Provenance
From receipt of gift: "Owned by Nathan W. Bush, charter member of the first Masonic Lodge, organized under a tree in Austin County." The receipt also notes, "Nathan W. Bush, born in Orange County, Kentucky, in 1812, was educated to be a druggist but became a stock man and farmer when he came to Texas in 1826 and settled in what is now Austin County. He died on September 3, 1882.
